Surgical vaginal rejuvenation
Vaginal rejuvenation - a procedure where excess and scar tissue of the external genitalia and vagina is removed.
During vaginal delivery, the vaginal opening (introitus) is under considerable stress. Overdistension of the introitus during the delivery of the head can lead to perineal tears and labial injuries.
After childbirth, the episiotomy wound may also heal poorly, which can lead to deformation of the vaginal opening and the appearance of a minor rectocele. Often, however, the vaginal opening is simply too wide and loose, thus presenting an aesthetic problem.
Treatment
Treatment is surgical. Vaginal rejuvenation involves the excision of excess and scar tissue from the external genitalia, reshaping the vaginal opening, and reconstructing the pelvic floor muscles, all with the aim of achieving the best possible symmetry of the external genitalia.
The procedure, performed under local anesthesia, takes half an hour, and patients are discharged home within one hour after surgery. We do not recommend sports, physical and sexual activity, or bathing in water for one month after surgery.
