Contraception
Contraception means preventing pregnancy, which can be achieved in various ways.
There are barrier methods (such as condoms, female condoms, and diaphragms), hormonal preparations (pills, vaginal rings, injections, implants), intrauterine devices (medicated IUDs, e.g., Mirena, non-medicated copper IUDs), and sterilization (tubal ligation).
In our clinic, we can insert a medicated intrauterine device at the patient’s request, which on one hand prevents pregnancy, and on the other hand reduces or prevents both menstrual bleeding and menstrual pain.
Sterilization represents a permanent form of contraception, which is mostly performed laparoscopically under general anesthesia. During the procedure, we either cauterize part of the fallopian tubes or remove both fallopian tubes.
