Gynecology
Fibroids
Fibroids are benign uterine tumors.
They are detected in almost every 4th women in their reproductive years and can cause various problems, such as heavy and prolonged menstruation, which can lead to anemia.
Their position under the mucosa can increase the risk of miscarriages and premature births, while their location on the outer side of the uterus can cause pressure on organs in the pelvis, potentially causing bladder and bowel problems, as well as abdominal pain.
Treatment
Various treatment approaches are available, from ultrasound monitoring of fibroid growth to prescribing hormone therapy or contraception, and surgical treatment that can be performed either hysteroscopically or laparoscopically.
